The $2.5 Million Return of the Swede
The rumors of Isildur1’s demise appear to have been greatly exaggerated. Our favorite mystery Swede must have taken a hint from Tom “durrrr” Dwan, who mounted his own journey across the comeback trail on Friday. Isildur1 spent the past 48 hours at the tables recouping his losses and getting himself back in the black thanks to a day in which he won more than $2.5 million.
Durrrr’s Big Day and Challenge Play
The high stakes games on Full Tilt may have died down for a day or two since Isildur1’s epic $5 million downswing, but things were not all quiet on the online poker front for long. After laying low for a little while, Tom “durrrr” Dwan got back to his winning ways on Friday, racking up nearly $1 million in profit and even finding time to play a short Challenge session with Patrik Antonius.
Marius Heiene Tops Day 1B, ElkY Close Behind in Prague
The second starting day of EPT Prague saw an unprecedentedly large field of poker players descend on the Hilton in the capital of the Czech Republic. The 367 players on Day 1B were too much for the tournament area to handle, meaning tournament director Thomas Kremser had to move some of them into the area reserved for cash games until enough players were eliminated to reduce the field to the tournament’s normally prescribed boundaries.
Isildur1 in the Red After $2.5 Million Loss
In J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” anthology, Isildur is one of the kings of the great kingdom of Gondor. He is best known for cutting the infamous, “one ring to rule them all,” off the evil Lord Sauron’s finger and saving the world from complete destruction. Then, rather than destroy the ring, he insisted on holding on to it because of his own greed and hubris, resulting in his subsequent murder and the second great battle for Middle Earth that we all went and saw the Peter Jackson version of at the movies a few years ago.
