Commerce Adds Five $10K Poker Seats to Prelim LAPC Events
In 2009, Cornel Cimpan won the Los Angeles Poker Classic main event for nearly $1.7 million. He beat out 695 other players — most of whom put up the $10,000 buy-in themselves — to win one of the most prestigious titles in poker.
February Hearing Scheduled for Intrastate Online Poker in California
The cash-strapped state that has shown willingness in the past to be a trendsetter when it comes to legislative action — is ready to hold a hearing on the merits of regulating online poker. California State Sen. Roderick Wright (D-Inglewood) told the LA Times this week that the state legislature is planning on holding a hearing on the issue in February.
L.A. Poker Classic 2010 Schedule Released
Commerce Casino has released the full schedule for the 2010 L.A. Poker Classic, and the tournament series will feature 51 events that will run from late January until the end of the World Poker Tour $10,000 no-limit hold’em championship on March 4. The LAPC will also once again host the WPT Celebrity Invitational, which begins on Feb. 20. The final table of the invitational will take place on March 3, which allows the final-table contestants in the championship event to rest for one day.
2010 L.A. Poker Classic set to break records
With $3.3 million in guaranteed money, the 2010 L.A. Poker Classic promises to be the biggest thing to hit Commerce Casino ever.
A 50-event schedule was released this week, including the World Poker Tour’s $10,000 L.A. Poker Classic Championship and the WPT Celebrity Invitational.
